Description

Greenwich Village is one of the most creative and gay-friendly districts in New York. Parades, performances and cultural events create artistic crossroads between past and present, where the imaginary contemporary television (Friends) meets the stories and passions of Kerouac and Ginsberg. The neighborhood is mostly residential, but survives an alternative and vital soul.

Greenwich Village is a large residential area in the west of Manhattan and was once a rural hamlet : it's widely considered as one of the main attractions in New Tork City. This is the reason that the grid plan and... more layout does not exisit here. Many of the streets here are narrow and are named rather than numbered as compared to the other modern vicinities. The residents of the Greenwich Village have a strong community character and are proud of the fame and history of the place. It is now home to several celebrities and actors. The Washington Square Park is at the heart of this region along with many other parks and playgrounds. There are a number of theatres, music clubs and cafes here. The attractions in Greenwich Village are the Washington Square Park Arch, the Washington Square Park, the Forbes Magazine Galleries and the Union Square.
