Originally part of the ancient Hacienda Bello Monte, this area on the side of the Rio Guaire was built up in the 1940s and was connected to the Bello Monte Neighborhood, on the other side of said river, by the Baruta bridge, now disappeared.

Part of the Greater Caracas area, this neighborhood was originally essentially a residential area, but is now, together with the adjacent Bello Monte district, a commercial neighborhood sporting a number of lively shops, restaurants, banks, movie theaters and shopping malls. In the Bello Monte district we can also find the luxurious Gran Melìa Caracas Hotel, regularly visited by diplomatic envoys from all over the world in their Caracas trips.
