Niagara Falls Sighseeings: Niagara Falls
The most powerful collection of waterfalls in North America, Niagara Falls has been one of the most popular destinations in the world for the past century. The twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York play host to over 12 million tourists per year, most of whom come to marvel at the area’s three prominent waterfalls: Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil.
Niagara Falls features some of the world’s widest waterfalls, which propel up to 3,000 cubic feet into the Niagara River every second. Traveling at speeds approaching 100 meters per hour over high cliffs, the water creates a spectacle for those viewing the falls from one of many possible vantage points.
As with many natural wonders, there is a large observation deck at Niagara Falls that gives visitors a panoramic view of the unrelenting waterfalls. However, thrill-seekers are also allowed to venture behind the falls and bathe in their mist, walk along the Niagara River and float along the river in the historic Maid of the Mist boat tour. Niagara Falls can also be witnessed from high-up places like the Skylon and Minolta Towers, which give visitors a unique perspective of the falls against a beautiful rural backdrop.
