Havana is one of the most visually identifyable cities in the world thanks to the unique local mix of latin rhythm, 50's American cars, collonial architecture and island paradise beaches.  Havana is also a cultural capital of the Caribbean as it hosts international ballet, film, jazz and of course cigar festivals every year.
As the leading commercial city, port and capital city of the island of Cuba in the Caribbean, Havana has moved forward a long way during its exciting city history, from pirates, slaves, sugar, Spanish and British occupation to Castro and the missile crisis.  Built around a bay, the three ports of Marimelena, Guanabacoa, and Atarés act as the main arteries into the city and also Cuba in general.
Tourists in Havana enjoy the lively nightlife and latin beats of the famous habanera and salsa bars, the glorious and grand, well preserved colonial structures and the consistant tropical climate that keep the city and the island well above 21°C/70°F all year round.

Overall Guide : Havana is a city of contrasts, from the many historic buildings and vintage cars from the 1940s, 50s etc to the many beautiful hotels, memorial spots and embassy buildings to the Government apartment blocks (one or two in need of... more repairs) - it is a large and diverse city by island standards. The people and culture reflect the rich heritage and strong character of the country which has purposefully forged its place of respect among the many nations of the world.I visited for a conference between Jun 17-22 2014 and used much of my spare time to explore and experience the many sights and sounds. When you go here, be sure to go to the Castropol Restaurant in La Habana Vieja(their Sea bass is superb!), as well as the Malecon to talk a long leisurely walk. Also visit the 'Mercado de Artesanios' to check out the wonderful leathercraft, unique costume jewelry and the many paintings from Local Artists. Be sure to get the larger ones (30x40 inches) stamped when you purchase - in order to leave the country with it.
Not to be missed Malecon , Beaches , Old Havana

Overall Guide : The charming capital of Cuba has much to offer: interesting architecture and venues not to be missed, at all, so great the choice is! Many are the things to do and the places where to go to at night:... more discos, nightclubs, cinemas, theatres museums! Among the theatres is the Gran Teatro true witness of its glorious past, is where ballets, operas and other forms of entertainment are still performed! Museums are also important and interesting for a visit! The Museo de la Revoluciòn, once the Presidential Palace, the most important museum in all Havana, perfectly matches french, german and spanish architectures and still witnesses the country’s political contraddictions along the time!

Overall Guide : Great city and people with incredible history but wow is the food crap! Traveling outside of Havana is easy and you have some of the greatest beaches that I have ever visited in my life. Watch out for the "extras"... more (health insurance) when you land that you have to pay at landing and also DO NOT take the tourist peso (Gug) out of country - it is worthless but I felt for the few days that we spend in this great country like I am living history and the lack of great teams of tourists did help as help.
Not to be missed Old City , Beaches , Music
