Leipzig Zoo has been noted for carnivore collection on its part. It had opened in the year 1878. The city of Leipzig took over the charge of it in the year 1920. Having occupied a 54-acre site, this zoo goes on to maintain around 5000 specimen of around 600 species. ‘Big cats’ is the specialty of Leipzig Zoo. Around 2000 lions; along with 250 Siberian tigers have been bred over here.
