Balos is located in the north west of Crete, an uncontaminated beach guarded by the Venetian fortress located on the island of Gramvoussa, reachable by a pathway in about twenty minutes.

The lagoon of Balos with its white sand and nuances with a tendancy to pink, recalls lunar landscapes; The clear water is generally shallow and warm, the beach is deserted.

How to get there: The beach is accessible by car through a dirt road overlooking the sea from Kaliviani, the last bit to get down to the lagoon can only be done on foot, otherwise you can take a boat from Kastelli or Phalasarna.
