Diving in Crete
Crete, thanks to its beautiful waters rich in attractions of various kinds, is one of the most indicated destinations for both the activities of diving and snorkelling. In both cases, exploring the waters of Crete gives you the chance to find some artifact and, in particular, of wrecks.
Very impressive in this sense the wreck of Messerschmitt, a German fighter aircraft dating back to World War II of which are still visible elements such as the fuselage, the wings and the machine gun.
The area is ideal for admiring the big fish such as bluefin tuna, and some natural cavities of great charm, like the caves and underwater canyons. El Greek Cave, for example, is a very long cave where many species of marine flora and fauna live, especially shrimps, as well as Daedalos, a place full of crabs, octopuses, groupers and moray eels. In the Gulf of Corinth you even get to spot dolphins and turtles. Very interesting are also night dives.
The best area for diving remains Agia Pelagia, where you can see the Great Anchor, a rock walled canyon which enters the sea, the Blue Cave and its incredible rock tunnel and the cave of the Greek
