Hotel Description

Villa Bacchus is a traditional-style Greek country cottage lying in its own small garden and reached by a country lane.

Accessed via a driveway shared with the villa next door, this semi-detached house is in an ideal location only one kilometre from the shops and tavernas of Kassiopi and just half kilometre from Avlaki's shingle and pebble beach.

The villa's poolside terrace is a pleasant and fabulously scenic spot, with a crazy-paved patio surrounding the swimming pool and looking out across the tree-clad countryside to the sparkling Ionian Sea in the distance.

A shaded door opens into the house where you will find a kitchen/diner and a simply-styled twin bedroom with french doors opening onto the poolside terrace. Two steps lead up to a shower room and the lounge; a cool room with whitewashed walls and a tiled floor, decorwith some of the owner's family antiques.

Upstairs is a galleried second bedroom with a wide shaded balcony overlooking the pool and enjoying sensational views across Avlaki Bay to Albania.

The dwelling carries a history of over 200 years since 5 generations of a family grew up there.

The original purpose of its construction was so that the family could use it as a summer holiday home when moving down from the mountain, where the majority of the inhabitants lived, and use it to do their swimming which was very beneficial to many ailments.

Later it was used as a permanent home having as a primary purpose the gathering of olives and the production of wine. Having their own olive press, they produced olive oil of exceptional quality as well as products derived from it's production.

They also grew and harvested their own grapevineys, an occupation still retained today but on a much smaller scale.

Nearest supermarket: 1km
