Achalpur was formerly known as Ellichpur, and it is a city and also a municipal council in Amravati District in Maharashtra. The city has a twin city which is known as Paratwada. Geographically, the city has an average elevation of 369 metres. As per the 2001 census, the population of Achalpur was 107,304. The city is connected with other cities by bus like Bhopal, Indore and such places.
The city was first mentioned in the 13th century as one of the famous cities of the Deccan. Though the city was a tributary to the Muslim Delhi Sultanate after 1294, it remained under the Hindu administration till 1318, when it came under the Muslims. After this, the city became the capital of the province of Berar now and then until the occupation of the Mughals. Later on, the seat of the provincial governor was moved to Balapur. Due to this, the town has some relics of historic buildings of the Nawabs of the Berar.

Overall Guide : Achalpur is an historical city with beautiful Imambaras and mosques and has a royal graveyard 500 years old. Ithas a very old fort of king Yeel situated on the bank of river which is crumbling now. City is wall protected ... Leggi tutto and is surrounded by two rivers Sapan and Bichhan.

Overall Guide : It is very Cool and enjoyable city. Chikhaldara is the nearest hill station from achalpur and many more picnic spots are near paratwada. few dams are also arround it.
