Overall Guide : The Nandankanan Wild Life Sanctuary is popular for the rare species of white tigers in the world. The Khandagiri and Udayagiri Hills house an ancient Jain monastery carved like a cave. The monastery dates back to the second century B.C. The... more most beautifully carved caves are the Rani Gumpha (the queen’s cave) and the Hati Gumpha (the elephant cave). The world-famous Lingaraja Temple in Bhubaneswar is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a rare example of excellent architecture and carvings blended together. It is said that the devotees who go to Jagannath Puri must first pay a devotional visit to the Lingaraja Temple to make their holy journey successful. Dhauli Giri is the place where the famous king Asoka of the Mauryan Empire submitted to Buddhism and non-violence after the battle of Kalinga. It has well-preserved edicts that date back to the third century B.C. An elephant which is the universal symbol of Lord Buddha is erected on the top of a rock.

Overall Guide : Autorikshaw transportation for passengers is very expensive as they don't carry fare meters. Town buses don't have fixed bus stops, therefore commuters most of the time are not aware of the timings. Although cleanliness drive has started, it has not... more picked up as many places outskirts of the city are dirty and visually unclean. Main roads have been widened, but the Cuttack Road needs to be widened to put pressure off heavy traffic. Helmet wearing has been made compulsory within the city, but on highways to Cuttack or other cities, it has been observed that helmets are not worn and traffic check is not made.
