Starting off from the fifteenth century members of the Medici family were buried in tombs, some of which were made by Michelangelo. These are located in the "New Sacristy," they are masterpieces of the Renaissance sculpture. In the Chapel of the Princes there are beautiful frescoes by Pietro Benvenuti.
