Info about Alligator Pond

Alligator Pond is a small fishing village which is situated on the south west coast of Jamaica. It lies in the parish of Saint Elizabeth. Alligator Pond is 112 km to the west of Kingston Town and experiences a coastal climate. The people in this village depend on fishing as the sole means of occupation. Some of the best fish of the island are caught here by the local fishermen, which are then supplied by them in the market or through the various eateries that line up on the beaches. The village is located at the foothills of the Don Figero Mountains around thirty five kilometers from the parish capital, Mandeville. The village derived its name from the shape of the mountain range which resembles the back of an alligator when viewed from the beach. There are no alligators in the beach and one can enjoy various water sports such as snorkeling, scuba diving, sun bathing and boating.

Overall Guide : It was good but the walking was long, hard, tiring and it got sand in my shoe. The tour could be a lot shorter if there was like a little tour bus carrying us around.
