The Palacio de Gobierno is located on the north side of the Plaza de los Mártires (Martyrs Square). It is popularly known as zócalo or town square or plaza in downtown Toluca. The building occupies the government of the state of México. It was built between 1971-1875 and is of neo-classical design, taking up an entire city block between Nicolas Bravo Nte, Primo de Verdad, Santos Degollada Pte and Sebastian Lerdo de Tejarda Pte.
