Marrakech Monuments and Historic Buildings: Mosquée Ben Youssef

Mosquée Ben Youssef is a beautiful historic building in Marrakech and is 120 meter long and 80 meter wide. It was built by cedar wood, lime and Gueliz stones. This was a Coranic school built in 1570 by the Saadien Abdellah Al Ghalib, one of the Saadiens. Ben Youssef, means School Ben Youssef, one of the historic buildings and the most significant ones in Marrakech. Initially, the building was known as the largest coranic university, with all around the world students coming to learn. Today, this is a religious and a historic site worth visiting on a trip to Marrakech.
