Sukkur is the name that has symbolized itself as an emblem for the Sindhi culture. Area wise it is the third largest city in the Sindh province in the country of Pakistan. It is situated on the banks of the Indus River. Sukkur is also called the ‘Darya Dino’ which means ‘The Gift of the River’ because had it not been for the Indus, the city would have been a desert. The region is pretty large in area and covers about 5,165 sq. km. To the north it is joined to Shikarpur while it shares its boundary with Khairpur in the South. Sukkur also combines its resources with India with Jaisalmer in Rajasthan being in the forefront. Sukkur is well circuited with road to all the major cities of Pakistan. The climate here tends to be in the extremes but in a mild manner. The summers are hot while the winters are cold and dry. The average temperature during summers is 35 degrees but can also go up to 52 degrees as recorded once. The rainfall is average and is about 90mm. the population here is around 908,370 people. Almost the entire population consists of Muslims with a very little share of Hindus and Christians.

The visit to this place can be very knowledgeable. There are shrines and tombs of people like SYED SADAR-UR-DIN SHAH, Shah Khairuddin Jillani and many others which are highly respected and worshipped. Another place to visit is the Bukkur Island which gives a peaceful view of the water and its banks etc. As the culture of this great city goes back to several centuries, this city just cannot go without shopping places or markets, so a must visit is the Shahi Bazaar on Frere Road where you might get just anything that you can dream about in Pakistan.
