Description

The Singapore Zoo was initially popular as Singapore Zoological Gardens and commonly cited as Mandai Zoo. This zoo is located near the highly dense forestry area of Singapore. This zoo is handled by Wildlife Reserves Singapore; this group also takes care of the bordering Night Safari and the Jurong Bird Park. The species found on this zoo have an approximate count of 315 animals, out of which around 15 percent are endangered species. There are a strict barrier between the animals and visitors so there is nothing to fear. The Singapore Zoo attracts millions of tourists every year. It is a home for the Orangutans in the world. The zoo offers few rides for the visitors to cater the whole zoo without getting any inconvenience; the rides are boat, animals, horse, trams etc. For handicap, senior citizen and children facilities like wheelchairs, wagons and strollers are also available which can be rented.

The Singapore Zoo opened on 23rd June was formerly called as Singapore Zoological Gardens and is popularly called as the Mandai Zoo today by the local people. This is the finest zoos in the whole of Asia and one of... more the most beautiful in the world. It occupies twenty eight hectares of land and encompasses 315 species of animals with 2530 total number of varied animals in their natural habitat.The zoo is visited by 1.4 million people annually. The main attraction here is the ‘Breakfast with an orangutan’ program where tourists can interact and meet with the orangutans in the zoo and feed them too. There are several conservation efforts madeto protect endangered species of the park and the zoo provides various rides within the complex such as trams, animal rides, wheelchairs, carriage rides and more. Friends of the Zoo is a special program which can be availed of by the people and get yearly passes which grant special privileges and discounts such as free entry to the zoo for the entire year and free tram rides and more
