Khon Kaen is the fourth largest city in the Kingdom of Thailand. It lies in the heart of the country’s north-eastern region and is around 450 km from the capital city of Bangkok. With its rich traditions and Thai heritage, the city makes for a relaxing tourist destination.
Khon Kaen is well connected to Bangkok by air. However, for breathtaking sights on the way it is recommended that you travel by train.
The city’s climate is humid and hot, with average temperatures ranging anywhere between 28°C–38°C. The wet season typically extends from July to October.
Khon Kaen has a population of more than 175,000 people. It is the commercial, administrative and educational centre of north-eastern Thailand. It is also renowned internationally for its silk.

Overall Guide : Khon Kaen is a nice place. Few Taxis, but do not speak English. Bars mostly Thai music (boring) Farang bars (more or less dumps). Some with live bands, but Thai music (boring). Better in Bangkok!!!! BTS or many Taxis available. ... Leggi tutto More quiet in Bangkok. Here many young men (children brains) pumping music on their pickups 24 hours a day. Selfish. Better study English, than blow other peoples brain out middle in the night! I lived 7 years in the Philippines, but even the uneducated people speak English. I will now choose to return to Europe and live in a peaceful manner and run my Asian businesses from there. Even if it means a bit loosing on cheats. Like Thailand when together with friends in a peaceful area, which is sometimes difficult to find. Well its maybe the age, I am 50 years old. But I am a family and business man who loves to listen to music, but not to noise from pickups. I wish anyway a pleasant stay and dont forget to visit the Pullman Hotel (Underground). Great live band there (sometimes English). Very good band!!!

Overall Guide : Nothing much to do in Khon kaen. A big city in isaan which is surrounded by farmland. Nearest places of interest are Laos, Nong Khai and Udon Thani. The bus station offers a reasonable service to all of Thailand, but ... Leggi tutto the train station is small and goes from North to south on a single track. Lots of places to eat at good prices. Try Ton Tan market near Big C lots of cheap food and good beer.

Overall Guide : A good, clean city with a lot of attractions for foreigners such as golf and very nice nature with big lakes and the inner cite have all the shopping you will ever need.
