Bangkok is a shopper’s paradise as the city possesses large markets and huge shopping malls spread out all over the city radius.
Malls and shopping arenas in Bangkok often sell overpriced goods so shopping in street markets results in a lesser impact on the pocket.
There are many street markets around Bangkok where consumers can hope for excellent bargains on goods. Chatuchak Market is one of largest and the best markets for street shopping.
The other most famous tourist street market is the Patpong Night Market situated between Silom and Surawong road. The market is known for its fake branded goods and cheap clothes.
The Pratunam Market which runs twenty-four hours is located on the most known street market situated between Ratchaprarop and Phetburi road, near Amari Watergate Hotel. This market is the best place in entire Bangkok to buy cheap clothes, fabrics and textiles.
Even wholesalers and retailers around Bangkok make their purchases here.
This night market is not the night market one usually associate with Thailand. Going there is like going to another large shopping mall in Bangkok. Everything from shopping to restaurants were just so so. Because most of the places are... more outdoor, it can get quite hot and humid just walking around. The worst part is having to take a ferry back and forth, and the wait for the ferry is very long. Go only if you have no other plans and that you just want to check it out. Otherwise, not worth going at all. I'd go to the Chatuchak market if you want to do some serious Thai style shopping.
