Alanya is located on the southern coast of Turkey, along the Mediterranean Sea. This seaside resort town of approximately 400,000 inhabitants is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
Most of the old city lies on the rocky peninsula that juts out into the sea. Alanya has a varied topography with some of the best beaches in the country on one side and the towering Taurus Mountains at the other end.
Alanya experiences a continental Mediterranean climate. During winter, the average temperature is 16°C; rainfall is concentrated during this time. Summer is hot and dry with the average temperature from May to October ranging between 25°C and 31°C.
The city enjoyed a golden period during the Middle Ages when most of the development and construction took place.

Overall Guide : I have been going to alanya now for many years and love the place. It is a lot more expensive now than it used to be but is still value for money. There is lots to see around the area... more and a visit to dim cay is a must, just 30 mins away in a taxi and a change to sit by a cool river and have a freshly caught trout lunch. For young people the harbour area is a must with all of the big club/bars open until 3 am. There are many good restaurants too, the ottoman house is one of the most unusual set in the grounds of a 100 year old coaching inn, the food is also very good. Dont hesitate, just go, you wont be sorry!!
Not to be missed Castel , dim cay river and caves , boat trip
