Chesterfield is a market town situated in the north of Derbyshire at the convergence of the rivers Hipper and Rother.
The Crooked Spire of Chesterfield is a popular landmark which is surrounded by one of the biggest and oldest open air markets.
There are several cycle lanes and free open paths in Chesterfield where one can enjoy walking or cycling. There are a number of well maintained parks and playgrounds for children.
The Planning Services Conservation Section preserves the historic environment of the region and takes care to maintain and conserve the important historical sites.
The Chesterfield market sells everything from fruit to clothes and carpets to antiques as well. There are special markets held on weekends or holidays where one can find jugglers and dancers providing entertainment to the people on the streets.
The Tourist Information Centre here is one of the best and is situated near the Crooked Spire.

Overall Guide : Queens Park Leisure Sports Centre provides a wide range of sports and recreational activities for visitors including swimming, squash, tennis fitness programmes and more. There is a café which serves healthy food and a crèche for looking after children as well.... more Vicar Lane is a major open air shopping area and the Precinct is another shopping area with pedestrian shopping options. The Pomegranate Theatre is a Victorian style building which has a small auditorium with a seating capacity of five hundred people. There are a variety of shows and concerts held here. Chesterfield Museum is an art gallery which has a fine collection of archaeological pieces and antiques which date back to the development of the town. Bolsover Castle is a residential palace which was built in 1612 by Sir Charles Cavendish and has splendid interiors as well as a wonderful garden which one can take a tour of.
