Eastbourne is a resort city in East Sussex, England. Famous for its gleaming white beaches and beautiful Victorian architecture, Eastbourne is home to a populace of around 100,000 permanent residents. The city endorses itself as ‘The Sunshine Coast’.
Blessed with a moderate climate, Eastbourne has mild temperatures throughout the year. Summers are hot; however, winter here is not true to its name, with the weather remaining warm and pleasant. It is also dry for most of the year.
In the earlier days, Eastbourne had an insignificant populace of 4,000 people and a nonexistent economy. However, it developed rapidly after its incorporation as a city in 1883. Today, tourism amounts to the largest share in the economy followed by manufacturing and catering.

Overall Guide : ‘How we Lived Then’ is an interesting museum which houses several shops and artefacts pertaining to local history. It contains over 100,000 pieces of historic importance covering the period from the eighteenth century to the Second World War. Set amidst stunning... more lush gardens is the Michelham Priory and Gardens. It is a tranquil historic house which houses the longest water-filled enclosure in England, a watermill and a rope museum. The Airbourne is a popular air show wherein visitors can enjoy four days of spectacular flying displays. The air show features enthralling displays from the Royal Air Force, other international air forces and helicopters. A tropical heaven on earth is the Eastbourne Butterfly Centre where visitors will find over 500 butterflies of different species housed in a natural conservatory setting. The Carpet Gardens, the Victorian Pier and the Redoubt Fortress are other appealing sites for the visitors.
