The London Eye allows a breathtaking panoramic view of the City. Built in 1999, this large Ferris wheel looks like a giant bicycle wheel. A fascinating interplay of lights accompanies the twilight hours.

One of the must visit attraction in London is the London Eye, which is an outstanding observation wheel situated in the Jubilee Gardens. This 135 meter tall structure was actually built as part of the millennium celebrations in London.  Designed... more by an architectural couple team of Julia Barfield and David Marks, this wheel was constructed for more than a year and a half. Also known as the Merlin Entertainments London Eye, the Millennium Wheel and formerly as the British Airways London Eye, this is a major attraction for all. This wheel turns very slow so that one can embark while it is moving. For a complete turn, it takes almost thirty minutes and one can get to see the magnificent panoramic view of the city. The British Airways London Eye was the idea of architects David Marks and Julia Barfield. This design came from many different influences like the Eiffel Tower, which was constructed in 1889 and the Ferris wheel built in 1893. The London... more Eye was chosen as the project for marking the Millennium.  It got chosen for its interactivity and for relevance to the theme of the new Millennium.
