Honolulu Beaches : Best Beaches
You can't travel to Honolulu without exploring some of the world famous Hawaiian beaches close by! The selection is staggering, depending on whether you're looking for a place of tranquility, a beach to try out your favorite watersports, or a place to mingle with other tourists.
Waikiki is one of the most famous, and therefore also probably the most crowded beach near Honolulu. For the more active beachgoer, Diamond Head is a good destination. Here, tourists can surf and windsurf, or simply get a good tan. Diamond Head Beach is relatively devoid of people, so you can always be guaranteed a good spot. However, beach access can be difficult because of the many private properties lining the beachfront, so you may have to scramble a bit over rocks or rough terrain to get to the shore.
Kahala Beach and Ala Moana Beach Park are known for their natural beauty. They are favorites of local Honolulu residents, though you will also spot other tourists here. Be on the lookout for plenty of weddings and photographers on these strips. Ala Moana Beach also attracts many active beachgoers, so space can become limited with all the surfers and joggers.
