Fredericton is the capital of the Canadian province of New Brunswick.
Initially, Fredericton served as a location for aboriginal settlements. It was later captured by the French, and then colonised by the British. After the American Revolution, this place was named ‘Frederick’s Town’, in honour of the second son of King George III of the United Kingdom, Prince Frederick Augustus, Duke of York. The name was shortened to ‘Fredericton’ upon being made capital.
Fredericton has a semi-continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. The temperature in January is around –15°C, while in July it is about 26°C.
Fredericton and its surroundings are rich in natural resources, which make it ideal for agriculture. With a population of 50,000, the locals are mainly engaged in agriculture and industry.

Overall Guide : The main attraction in Fredericton is the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, which houses an excellent collection of British paintings. The York Sunbury Museum displays the domestic and military history of the city. Also worth visiting are the Christ Church Cathedral, a... more nineteenth-century Gothic structure, and the seventeenth-century Old Government House. An interesting landmark is the Kings Landing Historical Settlement, which depicts life in the nineteenth-century with over 70 historic buildings from that period. The majestic Provincial Legislative Assembly Building, seat of the Provincial government contains a complete set of copper-plated engravings of the ‘Birds of America’ by American naturalist, John James Audubon. For recreation, head to the Mactaquac Provincial Park, a 1,200-acre site with golf courses and camping sites. Make sure to visit the Farmers’ Market, where you not only find foodstuff, but also local artwork.

Overall Guide : It's a rather boring city to live in, but people from smaller towns/ villages would probably find it exciting. Our shopping mall is being enhanced, we're getting many new, better stores. Downtown is a fun place to hang out, although... more there aren't many cute thrift shops, there are music shops, tattoo places, coffee shops and plenty of places to explore and enjoy a sunny day.

Overall Guide : They are lucky that CFB Gagetown and its occupants are nearby and don't appreceiate them enough.
