Nestled in the stunning Aburra Valley in the mountainous Antioquia, Medellin is the city with an ever changing pulse. This modern city with a population of 2.3 million is the capital of Antioquia Department in Colombia.

Situated at a height of 5000ft above sea level, it enjoys a humid sub-tropical climate. The city’s average annual temperature hovers around 22ºC, enveloping its people in a pleasant ambience.

More famously known as the drug capital of the world, Medellin, the ‘city of eternal spring’ is witnessing a renaissance. Today, it is outpacing other major Colombian cities in urban development and is home to a diverse migrant populace who sell anything from guinea pigs to crayons to make a living. For spectacular cultural encounters and sheer vividity of experiences, Medellin has few parallels.

Overall Guide : Medellin’s historical traditions are evident in Pueblito Viejo, a squared section of the city with homes and shops preserved as they were 100 years ago. The city is famous for Botero Museum, whose namesake is arguably the most renowned modern... more artist alive, while Museo Interactivo a stylish museum offering ‘immersion experiences’ is replete with exhibits that utilise new technology. The Festival of Flowers is the most important festival held every year in early August. Its nightlife, called ‘Rumba’, begins in earnest on Thursday night and reaches full tempo on Saturday night. The bars in Parque Periodista, a popular city square, play music from reggae to alternative rock, with revellers spilling onto the streets. For a sumptuous culinary experience ‘Tipico Antioqueño’, topped off with a Colombian beer and a cup of chocolate Hatoviejo is an ideal eatery.

Overall Guide : From California on a Mission Trip with my Church Group. Have spent a week in Monteria, and now back in Medellin. This City is beautiful, very clean, the people are friendly, and the transportation is adequate with taxis being everywhere.... more We have visited many of the Covenant Churches in both Monteria, and Medellin. We have stayed with Pastors in their homes and shared much love which has built our relationships stronger, and more enduring. We will be leaving this Friday after two weeks in Colombia - but we shall return to do more work expanding God´s Kingdom and working along side our our brothers and sisters - as it should be. We all love Colombia...
Not to be missed People , Children , Churches - all to be enjoyed...
