Toulouse

Toulouse in the south-west of France is home to about 430,000 inhabitants. Toulouse was a thriving trade centre during the Roman reign but it slowly turned into a sleepy little village. It had practically no industrial development till the beginning of the twentieth century.
Toulouse experiences a pleasant and sunny climate throughout the year. Summers are very warm and long; the average temperature in June is 24°C, but at the peak of summer it can even rise to 30°C. Spring, from March to May, is the best time to visit. Winters are mild with occasional snowfall.
Important military and aerospace industries were shifted here, and today, it is a dynamic city with aeronautics and space technology forming the base of its economic activity.

Overall Guide : Toulouse is popularly known as ‘Ville Rose’, or pink city, owing to its distinctive red-brick structures. It is quite small and easily explored by foot. The Basilique St.Sernin is the most visited site in Toulouse. Rich in history, this Romanesque church ... Leggi tutto is said to be the best of its kind in Europe; the crypt and the cloisters possess some very unique features. The Cathedral of St.Etienne is considered unique because it took six centuries—from the eleventh to the seventeenth—to be built; it thus imbibes a combination of various architectural styles. The Musee des Augustines houses several magnificent pieces of art and sculpture. Its unique feature is a monastery which has been preserved as it would have been in the Middle Ages. La cite de l’espace, a science theme park, is a must visit for a space enthusiast. It has full-size models of rockets and space stations; a planetarium and several exhibits explaining various phenomenon of space.
