The City of Rhodes lies on the Greek island of Rhodes in the south-eastern Aegean, close to the coast of Turkey. The city of Rhodes is one of the biggest municipalities of all the Greek islands with a population of 60,000.
It is the cultural and financial centre of the area and mixes a rich historical past with a lively present .
The medieval aspects, fortified behind impressive walls, merge perfectly with the cosmopolitan air of a modern resort with hotels, broad streets, elegant stores and most developed tourist infrastructures in Greece.

Overall Guide : The Old Town is one of the best  preserved fortified medieval towns in the world and is included in UNESCO list of Word Heritage Sites. The early Byzantine city was extended and fortified by the Knights of Saint John in... more the 14th and 15th centuries creating the medieval city we see today. Eleven Gates lead to the interior where the knights lived and where the most important Knights Houses can still be seen. The Grand Master’s Palace (14th century) was the headquarters of the leader of the Knights of  Saint John. Today the Palace is a museum, and its many rooms contain important archaeological finds from ancient and medieval Rhodes. Walking the cobbled streets of the Old Town visitors can also admire the moat and walls with their ramparts, the Byzantine churches, the mosques, the squares, and the gardens of the houses. In the new City of Rhodes is the picturesque yacht harbour of Mandraki with the lighthouse tower of St. Nicholas and the three old windmills.

Overall Guide : Visited Pefki in May 2012 for one week, was a lovely holiday for that time of year, not too hot. Hired a car for 3 days and toured around. Found some lovely restaurants, sea food quite expensive but can eat... more cheaper depending on your taste. People very friendly and helpful. Visited Prasonisi, Lindos and Rhodes town. Also took a boat trip to Symi, very nice place but the boat was packed out and some people had to stand or sit on the floor, not ideal for the 1 hour 40 minute journey.

Overall Guide : The best way to see it is to rent a car, the roads are good and they take you everywhere. Don't miss the small island of Simi, you can visit it during the day and it can be reached by... more ferry from Rhodes town. And a trip to the southern tip, where the Aegean and the Mediterranean seas meet, it's a paradise for kite surfers.

Overall Guide : It's a beautiful island, which you can get around in three days! The sea on the east coast is much calmer and there are great areas for snorkelling! The town of Lindos is very characteristic and Antony Queen Bay is... more a paradise! Don't miss the city centre and the harbour, with the famous deer that have taken the place of the Colossus of Rhodes!

Overall Guide : Have been going to Rhodes now for 13 years and love the friendly people who go out of their way to help you. Pefkos where we stay is a wonderful a sandy beach, fantastic tavernas, and a wonderful array of... more bars. a trip around the coast in a local hire car is a must as the island greatly differs from the Aegean side through the forests to the Med side.
Not to be missed Kalithea , Musolini's house , Prasonisi

Overall Guide : Go for the sea, but not just that. There's room for nature, culture, food, sun and fun: don't miss the valley of farmalle, the baths of Kalithea, the old town of Rhodes, the Lindos tour, an evening of pure British... more fun at Faliraki. Try pita, the excellent fruit, moussaka, and Greek salads ... and of course the yoghurt with honey and fruit.

Overall Guide : It's a beautiful city, it's incredible, the past and the present coexist to create a halo of magic, endless enchantment. There are a thousand lights, a thousand colours, a thousand sounds, a thousand harmonies. It's fun with friends, but also... more very romantic with your other half ;-)
