Colima City is the capital of the state of Colima in Western Mexico. The name ‘Colima’ comes from the Nahuatl (indigenous language) word ‘collimait’ where ‘colli’ means ‘ancestors or gods’, and ‘maitl’ means ‘domain of’, aptly describing the beauty of this region. Colima is commonly known as the ‘City of Palms’, for its many palm trees.
The climate is cool and humid for most part of the year. The annual average temperature is around 19°C with maximum rainfall between July and September. Summer is the best time to visit, with comfortable temperatures and minimal rainfall.
The city was colonized by the Spanish, prior to which there were native Indian settlements, lending Colima a multicultural atmosphere.
With a population of 570,000, the main occupation in Colima is agriculture and allied activities.

Overall Guide : One of the best cities to visit in Mexico. A really underrated charmy and calm smalltown with a perfect climate. No beaches, nice shopping and all kinds of tropical fruits in the neighbourhood. Really worth some days visit. You may... more find it necessary being active really early in the mornings and in late evenings, because of the hot weather. People are very friendly.
Not to be missed Go to the city market , Visit the Colima Volcan , Go to the nearby magical village Comala
