Ouarzazate (pronounced Warzazat) is in southern Morocco . This city, at the confluence of the Draa and Dades valleys, it is home to 60,000 inhabitants.
It enjoys a temperate sub-tropical climate . It is hot and humid during the summer, while the winters are mild to cold.
Ouarzazate, often referred to as the gateway to the Great Moroccan South, is the film capital of the country and a major tourist destination.
The people here are of mainly Berber origin .

Also visit the Heritage Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou when here. The Kelâa of M'Gouna , the valley's Rose gardens, is near the Kasbah of El Glaoui; the best time to visit is in late May. You'll find a traditional souk (market) on El Kelaa's main street; this is a typical African market with plenty of music and craft. In March-April, the seven day long Sand Marathon takes place close to Ouarzazate. This is the film capital of Morocco with films like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator being shot here. The Studio is on the outskirts of the city and is open to public tours. At the end of the day, drop by at Chez Dimitri , to enjoy a typical Moroccan dinner.

Overall Guide : Don't go on a guided tour, just wander off for an adventure. Book a hotel and/or riad in the cheap peripheral area.
