Sharjah is the government seat of the Sharjah Emirate and the 3rd most populous city in the United Arab Emirates.
The city is spread on an approximate area of 235 km² and has a population of over 800,000.
It is bordered by the cities of Ajmān, Dubai and the capital city Abu Dhabi lies at about 170 kilometers away.
Sharjah's climate is hot and humid. November to April sees warm sunny days with low humidity while May to September has high temperatures in excess of 45 degrees. Rainfall occurs from January to March.
The city contains plenty of traditional and cultural sites and is also famous for elegant mosques.
Thus, Emirate of Sharjah is known as the ‘Cultural Capital’ of the UAE. Sharjah is connected with the outer world by means of Sharjah International Airport and Port Khalid. However, there is no public transport in Sharjah.

I t contains handwritten Qur’ans, letters written by the Prophet to other leaders and numerous artifacts from the holy place of Mecca. Khalid Lagoon is well-known for Jet skiing. Several yearly festivals are held in the city offering a rich cultural experience. They have activities such as henna drawings, camel rides, mouth-watering Arabian food and much more.
