Barrow-in-Furness is known simply as Barrow which is an industrial town and a seaport. It forms half of the territory of the wide Borough of Barrow-in-Furness in the county of Cumbria in England. It lies 59 miles to the northwest of Manchester and 54 miles to the southwest from the county town in Carlisle.
This town is located at the tip of the Furness peninsula and is bordered by the Irish Sea and Morecamba Bay.
Historically, Barrow was a small fishing village before the Industrial Revolution in the mid 19th century. The name was originally of an island, and the name Barrai can be traced back to 1190. Later on it got renamed to Old Barrow in 1537 and Old Barrow Insula and Barrohead in 1577.
This town is situated at the tip of the Furness peninsula on the north western edge of Morecambe Bay. The town center and the major industrial areas sit on a flat coastal shelf with gentle incline leading away from the coast.

Overall Guide : Never seen so many empty shops in a main street as in Barrow. Clean town lovely Abbey, Dock museum well worth looking at, lovely people. But have noticed in many area's the amount of dog faeces
