Cambridge and the surrounding area hold an unrivalled reputation for being a centre of excellence both in learning and ambience. The name Cambridge instantly summons breathtaking images – the Backs carpeted with spring flowers, King’s College Chapel, punting on the river Cam and of course the calm of the historic college buildings plus a wide range of attractions, museums, hotels, restaurants and public houses.
Situated in the heart of East Anglia, this historic city is well served by rail, airports, motorways and dual carriageways, giving easy access to London, the Midlands and the South East.
Cambridge, with its winding streets and splendid architecture has plenty to offer any time of the year. It is ideal for a day trip or even better stay longer and enjoy a weekend break. An ideal centre for visiting the surrounding countryside, a short drive to Ely and visit the cathedral known as the “Ship of the Fens”, or nearby Newmarket, the home of British horseracing. The perfect destination for relaxing, punting on the river Cam, shopping, wine tasting or simply unwinding in a village pub - some of the pleasures to be sampled.
Cambridge still has the atmosphere of a bustling market town, in spite of its international reputation, and this can be sampled on a walking tour with a specialist Blue Badge Guide.

Overall Guide : The science museum is interesting, the explanations are well written, it's even free, and it's easily accessible and understandable for children. There are well-preserved fossil remains and vast amounts of artefacts belonging to different geological eras. I liked the marine... more exhibits, especially those of the Jurassic period.

Overall Guide : It's a beautiful town, it's not chaotic, you see a lot of bikes and it's very green. The university campus is beautiful: wonderful buildings, grounds and students who lead tourists down the river on their boats. It's a nice town... more to discover peacefully.
