Situated in McLean County in central Illinois, USA, the city of Bloomington is spread over an area of 58.3 sq km.
Before the arrival of the white settlers, the area was home to the Kickapoo people. It now has a population of around 65,000.
The city enjoys a warm climate in summer where the average temperature is around 24°C. In winter, the climate is very cold with temperatures dropping to –3°C.
Known as the ‘Beer Nut Capital of the World’, the city is also a thriving university town. Bloomington is home to the Illinois State University and the University Wesleyan. The entire city resembles a bustling campus teeming with students.
Even though the city is located in one of the most productive agricultural areas in the country, it has a diverse economy and has become a hub for the manufacturing industries.

Overall Guide : Art lovers will enjoy Bloomington Cultural District. An important area in city, it houses several art, educational and entertainment venues. The McLean County Arts Center and the Merwin and Wakeley Galleries are worth visiting. The David Davis Mansion State Historic Site, ... Other historically significant attractions include Miller Park Pavilion and War Memorial, which is a Korean and Vietnam War memorial site, and the Site of Major’s Hall, which commemorates Abraham Lincoln’s speech at the convention of the Republican Party of Illinois Museums worth visiting include McLean County Museum of History and Prairie Aviation Museum. Other attractions include Evelyn Chapel, Grady’s Family Fun Park and US Cellular Coliseum.
