Situated in Maui County in Hawaii, USA, Hana is located at the eastern end of the Maui Island. It covers an area of 9 sq km and has a population of around 2,000.
Hana has a subtropical climate because of the moderating effect of the ocean. The summer temperatures seldom cross 27°C, while in winter the temperatures rarely fall below 16°C.
Hana was once the seat of power for East Maui. It later grew into a centre for the sugar industry. After the closure of the sugar mills, Paul Fagan built a hotel to attract tourists to the town and boost its economy.
The town of Hana is isolated from the rest of the island. The town is lined with cliffs overlooking the rugged coastline. Dotted with pools fed by the waterfalls, the town boasts of the most beautiful beaches made up of white, black and red sand.

Many more ecological wonders can be found while hiking through the lush tropical forests of this paradise. The... more adventurous could attempt the excursions available at Maui Cave Adventures. With fascinating sights such as ancient stalactites, ledges and the stunning Dancing Sunbeam Skylight, this trip will be worth the while. For an aerial view of the region, visit Hang Gliding Maui. Art lovers will not be disappointed at the Hana Coast Gallery. Housing furniture made from extinct wood and several rare and exquisite paintings, this gallery is worth visiting. Also featured here is a collection feather art. Dedicated to preserving Hana’s history and cultural heritage, Hana Cultural Center houses a museum and a replica of an early Hawaiian village. Also worth visiting are Kauhamina State Wayside and Kahanu Gardens.
