Perdido Key is situated in the Escambia County of Florida in the United States. This city is an unincorporated community lying between Orange Beach, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida. The word “Perdido” came from Spanish word “lost.” Therefore, the local people often call it as the “Lost Key.” Situated in the northwestern part of Florida, the island was discovered by French or Spanish sailors in the early 17th Century. French and Spanish came and started settling in the region eyeing the vast untouched resources. Perdido Key is rich in wetlands, wildlife, and estuaries. It is filled with state and federal parks. The beauty of the land catches every eye. Perdido Key’s beaches are one among the top 20 beaches in the United States according to the survey-conducted by “Dr. Beach.” The beach stretches 16 miles from Perdido Pass Bridge close to Orange Beach, Alabama, to Santa Rosa Island in Pensacola, Florida. However the width of the beach is not more than 100 yards.

Reviews Perdido Key

Caroline
Overall rating 10
Overall Guide : One of the most beautiful beaches on the Gulf Coast! And, the view isn't littered with high rises slammed up against each other! There is plenty of space to spread out on the sand w/o having other people right on... more top of you, kicking sand all over your towels! Perdido is close to the Flora-Bama, the outlets in Foley, and all the tourist attractions of Gulf Shores without having to put up w/ all of the crowds and traffic during your entire stay. Pensacola, FL is a short drive away if you want to enjoy less touristy night life and dinning. Chet's is a locals favorite seafood resturant specializing in Mullet. Call ahead for hours. And, make sure to visit Pensacola Naval Air Station, home of the Blue Angels. October is extremely pleasent. The weather is still warm and beautiful. The heat of late summer has passed, leaving the perfect mix of warm, yet cooled breezes. If you enjoy history, you'll be close to historic Pensacola, FL and Alabama's Ft. Morgan. Both are an easy drive from Perdido Key. There is so much to see and do in the Perdido area, you could spend a month there and wouldn't be able to visit every thing!
Not to be missed Ft. Morgan (Alabama) , Pensacola Naval Air Museum
