State College is situated in Centre County in central Pennsylvania, USA. Located in the Lehigh Valley, it covers an area of 11.8 sq km and has a population of around 40,000. 
State College has a continental climate. Summers are hot and humid with an average temperature of 25°C. However, the temperatures cool to a comfortable level in the night. It gets very cold in winter with an average temperature of –4°C.
State College is most famous for the Pennsylvania State University. This educational institution attracts many students and indirectly contributes significantly to the town’s economy. 
The town has a pleasant and serene atmosphere contrasted by the lively downtown area. Surrounded by a lush green countryside, mountains and the Susquehanna River, it is lined with many golf courses, hotels and restaurants to serve its ever growing visitors.

Overall Guide : The Pennsylvania State University is the main tourist attraction here with the Old Main which was built in 1863 and includes frescos and mural paintings of Henry Varnum Poor in the main foyer. This educational institute is well known for... more its attractive college campus which includes a number of museums. The college of Agricultural Science with its botanical garden display, deer pens and sheep research center is situated here. It also has an Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum which displays a huge collection of ceramics, scientific equipment, glass, metal, plastic and more. The museum also displays a huge collection of more than twenty two thousand specimens of minerals, rock and fossils. The university also encompasses the Frost Entomological Museum which is a natural history museum displaying more than 700,000 specimen of insects. The Palmer Museum of Art has galleries depicting sculptures, paintings, ceramics and other work of art from all over the world. Center Furnace Mansion is a furniture display of the Thompson family which has been now included in the National Register of Buildings.
