St. Wolfgang, a holiday town in the Salzkammergut region, is situated in the upper part of Austria. Located on the northern part of Wolfgangsee, the small village of St. Wolfgang sits at the foot of the Schafberg Mountain. The city has a total population of around 2,700 inhabitants.
The city has an ideal continental climate, characterised by the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. The climate of the city is typified by constant weather winds. 
During World War II, the village of St. Wolfgang housed a sub camp of a Dachau concentration camp. The village also served as the setting of the musical comedy, the White Horse Inn.   
St. Wolfgang is a premier ski resort, making tourism the largest money-earning sector in the region. Music is an important cultural element, especially classical and folk music.

Overall Guide : Lovely place for Xmas markets and winter walking. Good tradional village with warm welcome from locals and good food. Lots of stuff for both adults and kids to do both on and off slopes. Ideal beginners resort and resort for... more families wanting to do different things.

Overall Guide : A beautiful friendly village that has become a second home to us. (We're about to take our 17th annual vacation there). Easy transport links to Salzburg and Bad Ischl and a great location for visiting all of the Salzkammergut region.
Not to be missed Schaffberg Railway , Lake steamers , Lots of Easy walking
