In the past, this was a fishing village. A majority of residences in this place date back to 1800 and till date this place has preserved its traditional character. Currently, several lively cafes and restaurants can be seen coming up in this place. Cathedral and Church of Our Lady The architecture and art of the present cathedral in Trier dates back to more than 1,650 years. At this location, the palace of Emperor Constantine was built in the past and some of its remains are still extant. The Church of Our Lady adjoins the Cathedral. It was constructed in the 13th century and is the earliest Gothic Church in the nation.
