185 km2
Elevation:

Overview

Accra, Ghana’s capital and largest city, is located on the Gulf Of Guinea, on the south west of the country.
The city has been Ghana's capital since 1877, and contains many public buildings reflecting its transition from a 19th century suburb of Victoriaburg to the modern metropolis it is today.
Its structure is certainly various and assorted with modern, colonial, and traditional buildings in African style.
The capital is a very important commercial, manufacturing, and communication centre.
It has an international airport and is the heart of the country's railroad system, including a connection to the nearby Tema, which since 1962 has served as the city's deepwater port.

Overall Guide : The National Museum, offers a show off of the History of Ghana in an extarordinary collection of ancient relics, documents and pictures. Makola Market: the most charming and picturesque modern open market, where visitors will admire the business... more acumen of the Ghanaian women traders. The Kaneshie Market on the western side of the city is well known for both foods and spices. The 17th-century Christiansborg Castle, also known as Osu Castle, now the residence of the Chief of State. The Du Bois Centre, a great venue for all people of the Pan African World.

Overall Guide : Accra generally is a cool place to hangout. A lot of restaurants serving both continental and local dishes. Night life in Accra is also splendid with a lot of of outdoor pubs. It also has a lot of classy night... more clubs like the plush Citizen Kofi, Afrodisiac and Boomerang. Moving about in daytime is however quiet frustrating due to traffic jams especially during the rush hours. But moving at night is very fast. A lot of beaches and resorts too.
Not to be missed Kwame nkrumah Museleoum , Bojo Beach Resort , Citizen Kofi

Overall Guide : Depends what you want to do, sure they have beaches and restaurants but the city lacks in things to see and do during the day. I stayed in Accra for about three weeks then I moved to Dakar. It was... more day and night, not even comparable, just look on the Internet, the brochure for things to do and see in Accra is about two pages its triple that for Dakar.

Overall Guide : Accra is a nice country but very crowded and hot. The currency is not stable and everyday prices changes. Acceptable level of education but need to be improved. A nice place for a trip but not for living...
