The splendid city of Chania managed to protect its unique insignia and historical quality, in spite of booming industry of tourist, it is considered as one of the most eye-catching cities of Greece and the most pleasing city of Crete. When I went it was summer, I saw numerous small tour ships offer three to five hour trips to the waters and island off Chania. These small ships depart from the old and new harbors and also stops in case if you are interested in swimming at one or another of the islets very small islands. They also provide free snorkeling gear … a kind of a swim suit with fins. The crystal clear water shows the bottom of the sea so clearly that I felt I wish I could live an underwater life. Everyone in their life should experience the different parts of island and should splurge at least a day in the mountainous heart of Chania. I planned a day trip. And I noticed that Chania arranges trips if you want to go, be it personalized or in groups, you have an option of a bike trip. The bikes will go along with you in a van on a slim, twisting, fourty five minute uphill drive to the mountain village of Zourva. And yes not to forget the food. You must try the delicious, traditional Greek lunch lamb chops and Greek salad at a taverna called Emilia's. Good food reasonable prices. From the village you can ride the bike some fifteen extravagant kilometers downhill, nearly with no peddling. But that doesn't mean you don't have to take caution and control on winding roads and can have potholes. I wondered what could be the night life of such an amazing historical place…I thought of visiting a club...or a bar...or even a disco or may be walking around the waterfront and old town, I recommend you to roam into Chania's back alleys to see the old Venetian and Turkish leftovers. People sit in a cafe and enjoy a coffee or a drink, or take a pleasure to a ride in a horse-drawn wagon at the dock. While roaming through the new town I was surprised by the modernity and variety and prices of the provisions patronized by classic Chaniots. Jewelers, leather-goods shops, and memento shops are everywhere, but it is difficult to find that very extraordinary item that's attractive and exceptionally important. I strongly suggest Old Venetian Harbor Beautiful vicinity full of unstable buildings and fifteenth century armories and lighthouse, People usually wait to see the sun set from there since it is very beautiful. Sea front tavernas are likely to be pricey as you are paying for the view. Chania Archaeological Museum, it is a The Greek Museums and one of the popular place, but you will find very few visitors in the Chania archaeological Museum, all the treasures in the museum are remarkable very few manage to discover and visit in the right hours of opening. I should not say this but the tourists are less than the employees in the Museum. It is a disappointment, because this is a very fascinating collected works with some exclusive objects. There is no museum guide, no related copy, and no display copies to buy. In addition, quite a few marble statues stand there however you are not allowed to take pictures, because they have not been published and studied yet, even though unearthed in 1957! I hope the Museums management will do something about these things, some day, in a better society.
