Amalfi has a population of 5,400 inhabitants and an area of 6 Km2; it’s situated in Campania region from 0 to 1,000 metres on the sea level. It depends on the part of the town.
The contrast between rocks and white houses make atmosphere marvellous and suggestive. If you turn the corner of streets, you’ll discover squares, monuments and typical shops.
This town is turistic and unique for its beauty. Its characteristic is the multitude of steps.
Typical restaurants offer characteristic dishes based on fresh fish like risotto alla pescatora e spaghetti alle vongole (rise and pasta) or zuppa di pesce (soup), cozze alla marinara and much more. As the traditional Napolitan cuisine, at the end of the lunch, you can taste sweets and black coffee.
Climate is mild :in Summer weather is good and warm, in winter it is cold.

Overall Guide : I have traveled to Eastern and Western Europe 70+ times and I found that the Amalfi coast is the most beautiful place I have ever seen and stayed. I stayed in both Positano and Sorrento twice and enjoyed the shopping, ... Leggi tutto weather, food, hospitality, and general ambiance. I would retire there if possible. However, prices can be very expensive depending on what you are doing. You owe to yourself to see this "heaven on earth!

Overall Guide : Many small towns with a lot of character. Positano and Priano as well as Amalfi are not to be missed. Great food, shopping and history to be enjoyed. Driving can be a little hazardous as the highway is built into ... Leggi tutto the side of the mountain. Neptune Hotel is also built right into the mountainside and can be passed very easily on the highway, but if can make a reservation! The views and vistas are not to be missed.
