Bormio

Bormio is a town situated in Sondrio province, Lombardy region of the Italian Alps. It currently has a population of 4,500.
Bormio lies at the head of the Valtellina valley formed by the Adda River and is linked to other valleys via four passes.
Bormio is best known as a popular, upmarket ski resort but is also noted for its hot spring spa baths.
The town centres around the historic Piazza Cavour and Via Roma and, unlike  traditional Alpine resorts, has more the flavour of a typically medieval Italian village.

Overall Guide : Clearly the main reason for a visit to Bormio is the opportunity to watch and take part in winter skiing. However, the town also has a rich history and Romanesque architecture that has been wonderfully preserved in churches,  palaces and museums. There are numerous restaurants, cafés and bars from which to watch the world go by and absorb the delightful atmosphere of this charming town. The eating places offer delicious Italian food and wines and many also provide entertainment. In fact, Bormio is known equally for its off-slope and après-ski activities as for its skiing. The resort is widely renowned for its thermal spa treatments and offers many other indoor and outdoor activities, including ice-skating, snowboarding, horseback riding, indoor swimming, tennis, squash and saunas.

Overall Guide : BEAUTIFUL SMALL TOWN, A LOT OF SHOPS, A LOT OF PARKS, (MAYBE NOT SO GOOD FOR WALKS WITH YOUNG CHILDREN), ANYWAY IT'S WORTH GOING. I WENT IN AUGUST, WINTER IS PROBABLY THE BEST TIME TO GO...

Overall Guide : Go to Bagni nuovi and Bagni vecchi, take a trip to Livigno. Ski. You can stay at Casa Martinello. They accept pets in Isolaccia, there is a supermarket, there are butchers and very good food at fair prices.
