Our visit to La Spezia was a trip we would remember always, we got a lot to do like wandering around shopping streets, castle, and several museums. This city is a major naval base at the head of the Gulf of La Spezia in the Liguria region of northern Italy, is the capital city of the province of La Spezia, it is one of the main Italian military and commercial harbors. We enjoyed the interesting pedestrian only La Spezia Naval Technical Museum, It is sited next to the historic military arsenal near La Spezia's historical centre. This museum preserves the naval historic traditions and has documented all technical development of shipbuilding for warfare. There are two floors including one garden at the centre. There are numerous collections of Guglielmo Marconi’s initial experiments depicted via photographs. More you look for varied attractions more you get here in La Spezia including beautiful sea-beaches surrounded by amazing views. Small villages established on green valley gives you a feel of pure ancient traditions. Le Cinque Terre, the five lands, are a group of five villages to be reached by train, ship or also well-liked hiking trails between the villages. Sarzana is a small walled town 15 km east of Spezia famous for its antique shops. Dense pine woods, romantic coves, the island of Palmaria and the small island of Tino and Tinetto, but very interesting from an archaeological point of view are the best-known destinations, with La Spezia in the middle of the gulf.Tinetto is the smallest island in La Spezia, it hosts a rare subspecies of wall lizard, common in the island, which is not present in any other area of the world. Further extend to the coast line of La Spezia lie pleasant villages like Levanto, Bonassola, Framura and Deiva Marina surrounded by all green mountains and a nice sea that meets the shoreline and the cliff. A collection of interesting artworks also including significant historic remains from the demolished churches can be seen in thirteenth century Abbey Church of Santa Maria Assunta I would say it is worth watching. There is another museum of modern day art that we visited. One should not miss the recently re-established Saint George Castle with its Museo del Castello that displays Roman and pre-Roman artifacts. For adventurous people there is an option of taking a walk from Riomaggiore to Monterosso al Mare an 18 Km hike starting from the second half of Riomaggiore, you take the trek to Manarola, then to Corniglia, then to Vernazza, and finally to Monterosso al Mare. There you come across worth watching seaside towns and exciting sights with varied charisma. At the end of the trek, you would be pleased with the pleasant town's pleasant little extend of beach. There's a free public beach, and a little nicer private beach with umbrellas and chairs, etc. The trek is for determined, adventurous people who like to stop and explore little facts and get pleasure from beautiful landscapes.
