Alicante

The city of Alicante is located in the south-eastern part of Spain in the region of Valencia. Alicante is also the capital of the Alicante region and a historic Mediterranean port.
This beautiful city is set amidst mountains on one side and the sea on the other. Alicante is famed for its mild climate with average temperatures of around 16ºC in the winters and 32ºC in the summers.
Alicante has a population of approximately 400,000 people. A large percentage of the population is from the South American countries of Argentina, Ecuador and Colombia.
The diverse ethnic groups in the city give it a vibrant and multicultural atmosphere. Spanish and Valencian are the official languages, but English and German are also widely spoken.

The Castillo de Santa Barbara is situated high upon a cliff and provides a magnificent view of the harbour. The festival of the Bonfires of Saint John is held every year during the summer solstice and is celebrated with great pomp and ceremony throughout Alicante. Another colourful festival that attracts many visitors is the Moros y Cristianos.

Overall Guide : I have spent the last 3 winters in Alicante with a camping van. The climate is pleasant, 8-20 degrees and no rain, the beach is clean and spacious. As a resort, I would suggest El Campiello where the prices are ... Leggi tutto affordable, 30% lower than Italian prices. Transport is comfortable and the medical care is excellent.
