Overall Guide : May to June and September to Novembre are nice periods for touring Instanbul, as temperatures are milder, varying between 18°C and 24°C, and thanks to a better degree of wetness. Istanbul offers lots of interesting historical and cultural sights,... more though, like synagogues and mosques, churches, monuments and museums, a sole opportunity to get in touch with such a magic atmosphere! Better on foot! Just immagine the extrordinary mosqes, supreme witness of Islamic architecture and the multicolured always crowded Grand Bazar! How impressive! Among its most important venues are the Topkapi Palace, Saint Sophia Museum, and Sultanahmet, not to mention the numerous sights widespread throughout the city.

Overall Guide : It was love at first sight, and a deja vu feeling too. Much is touristy, but there's a lot to do and see and experience when you do a little research. People are friendly, not shy to pull up a... more prank, especially the ice-cream vendors and some restauranteurs. The old city, modern parts, malls, museums, palaces, gardens, sea-front, history, climate...Istanbul has it all. Like any other major city, there are pick-pockets and areas which can be dangerous, especially at night. Keep this in mind, take due precautions, perhaps go around as a group - you should be okay.

Overall Guide : Istanbul was wonderful and I would go back there any day again and again! We were on an arranged tour, and everything went smoothly and it was amazing! There is so much history! Next time I will definitely stay longer... more and take more money! The cultural experience was unforgettable and the Grand bazaar truly mind blowing! The Topkapi Palace was the highlight with its wonderful exhibitions.

Overall Guide : Look for a hotel in the center, it doesn't need to be a luxury hotel, there are decent hotels at affordable prices, it will be much easier to go on trips and visit the city: Istanbul is an overwhelming city,... more with two cores and a part with Italian influences: the Galata district and the ancient trading post of the Maritime Republic of Genoa.

Overall Guide : Stay in the old city, tour from there. Make sure you check on "IstanbulEats.com" before you go. They have great suggestions for places to eat and small reasonable tours through unique sections of the city, eating, tasting and drooling as... more you walk....

Overall Guide : It's a chaotic city but you never get tired of going around it, the locals are friendly, without an agenda. If you know where the eat you get good food for little money, avoid tourist restaurants where the food is... more good but expensive. I recommend the boat tour.

Overall Guide : Go to the Blue Mosque, the Basilica of St. Sophia and the Basilica cistern. Walk through the bazaar and let yourself be transported by a city that vibrates with cultures and conflicting emotions that leave you open-mouthed to say the... more least. Don't miss a Turkish kebab for dinner and take a break with some cay.
