Battle Creek is the third largest city in Calhoun County in the state of Michigan in U.S.A. The city lies at the junction between the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo River.
The city covers a total area of 43.7 sq miles and has a population of 53,364 as per the 2000 census.
The city is nicknamed as the ‘Cereal City’, since the Kellogg Company, renowned for its breakfast cereals and founded by W.K.Kellogg, has its headquarters here.
The city has a rich topography of rivers, lakes, streams, farms, hills and forests. The city has a cold but pleasant climate due to the effect of the lake.
The westerly winds which cross the Michigan Lake make the summers cool and the winters warm. Although the average snowfall in the U.S. is 37, Battle Creek gets 51 inches of snowfall annually.
