Situated in Cochise County in Arizona, USA, Bisbee is nestled amongst the Mule Mountains. It is spread over an area of 12.5 sq km and has a population of around 7,000.
Once known as ‘The Queen of the Copper Camps’, this Old West mining camp was one of the richest mineral sites in the world. In the early 1900s, it was the largest and most cultured city in the Southwest. Bisbee, built on several steep-sided canyons, is lined with historic, Victorian homes.
The summer temperatures vary from 30°C to 13°C. Winter temperatures range from 12°C to 0°C. Rainstorms can be experienced in July and August, while the rest of the year is generally dry.
It is named after Judge DeWitt Bisbee, a financial backer of the Copper Queen Mine. It has now evolved into an artist’s colony and gives its visitors a peak into the Old West.
