The residents believe that the city is named after Luther Burbank, a famous horticulturist. However, in reality, it is named after David Burbank, who was an entrepreneur and dentist.
The city is home to 100,316 people, as per the 2000 census. The city mainly experiences a Mediterranean climate. As a result the winters are cool and humid, while the summers are dry and hot.

Overall Guide : Burbank is packed with lots of attractions and entertainment spots. The Colony Theatre is the place of world class plays. Tourists can view some of the excellent plays and performances in this theatre. Tours of the Warner Bros and NBC studios... more are also possible. These two hour trips facilitate the tourists to see inside the world of movie studios. They can watch the making of some famous TV series and sometimes even movies. The Warner Bros Museum is located near the studio. One can journey through 75 years of filmmaking in this museum. It holds a large collection of costumes, equipment and animation cells which were used in the olden days. NBC studio is located at the West Alameda Avenue. Tourists are taken on short walking tours inside the studio. Hollywood is in easy reach of Burbank. Hence, large numbers of tourists visit Hollywood, when they are on a vacation in Burbank. Shopping enthusiasts can indulge themselves at a few popular shops like It's a Wrap and Hubba Hubba.
