Davenport is a very useful and important city to the Scott County in Iowa in the United States. The city has never failed to constantly show signs of improvement. It is based on the surroundings of the massive Mississippi River. The nearest place to this city is the popular Rock Island. The Illinois city of Moline is a neighbour to the city of Davenport. This city was founded in 1836 after a peace treaty was signed that ended the Black Hawk War. This city is named after Colonel Davenport who had lent a large hand for the freedom of this city. The total area of this city is 64.9 square miles. This city faces a continental type of climate where the summers can be hot and humid whereas the winters can have very cold temperatures. The snowfall rate is high and around 30.7 inches. Storms are frequently caused in this place because it geographically lies in the mid- latitude area. The area is very much prone to floods as it is close to the Mississippi.

Overall Guide : This is my third time in Davenport, music fans cannot miss the several annual music festivals which annualy take place, including the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, The Mississippi Valley Fair, and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival. Also to mention... more a fun and internationally known (11 km) foot race called the Bix 7 is run during the festival. Davenport has 27 parks and over 19 km of recreational paths for biking or walking. It is a small city inhabitants are very welcoming and friendly, making Davenport one of the most livable small-city places. Its weather is pretty humid and continental. Flooding, however, is often a problem in Davenport due to the lack of a flood wall. Many sites to visit and has many points of interest including the Davenport Public Library, Figge Art Museum, the Davenport Skybridge, , River Music Experience, Putnam Museum, the RiverCenter Theater, Modern Woodmen Park which is home of the Quad City River Bandits baseball team and the Centennial Bridge. Try it out, you won’t be upset.
