Nicknamed 'The Heart of the Bay', Hayward city lies in Alameda County in California State of the United States. Hayward basically lies in a sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area, which is East Bay. Because of its population, Hayward is the 6th largest city in this area. As per the 2007 census, the city has 155,312 residents. Recently, the suburbs of Schafer Parka and Mount Eden were incorporated into Hayward.

Hayward is within easy reach of the two principal cities, San Francisco and Oakland. The city was a part of Rancho San Lorenzo. Downtown Hayward is one of the famous spots in the city.  The early economy of the city of Hayward depended heavily on Hunt Wesson Food. This company was formerly known as Hunt Brothers Cannery, which was established in 1895. The Hayward Executive airport is the major airbase in the state.
Similar to other cities and towns in California state, the city of Hayward experiences a Mediterranean climate. However, since it lies in the western part of the state, temperate climatic conditions prevail.

Overall Guide : Hayward offers an array of interesting places to visitors. Nature lovers can visit the Garin and Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park. It is located at Garin Avenue in Hayward. Visitors can enjoy picnic facilities, hiking trails and horse riding inside... more the park as well as fishing in the Jordan Pond. The park has a wide range of wild animals and plants. The annual festival of apples takes place here in summer every year. The Hayward Area Historical Society Museum is located on the Main Street. Here, visitors can learn about the local history of the city. It exhibits artefacts which date back thousands of years. The library and the archives are the best sources of knowledge about the city. Another famous museum in this city is the C.E. Smith Museum of Anthropology. Founded in 1975, this museum houses a spectacular collection of ethnographic and archaeological specimens from North America, Asia and Africa.
